How do I power on/off my RIVA S?

The RIVA S can operate off of battery power, or by being plugged into an outlet.

Running on Battery:
  • When your unit is unplugged, make sure that the battery switch on the back of the speaker is switched to the ON position. This means that the switch is pushed to the right, and you should see a green background next to it.
  • Now, press the power button on top of the speaker for approximately 1 second. You should see all of the buttons light up for a few moments.
  • To turn the speaker off, press the power button again for approximately 1 second. Switching the battery switch to the off position will also cause the speaker to turn off.

When Plugged In:
  • Your RIVA S does not need to be charged for it to be used when plugged into an outlet. Simply plug the included power adapter into the port on the back of the speaker labeled "19V DC".
  • Make sure that the outlet you're using is active, and if it is connected to a light switch make sure it is flipped to the on position.
  • The battery switch on the back of the RIVA S can be in either the ON or OFF position, and the speaker will still function as long as it is plugged in.
  • Press the power button on top of the speaker for approximately 1 second to turn on, and again for approximately 1 second to turn off.

What to do if your speaker is not turning on after following the above instructions:

If your speaker is plugged into an outlet, check to see if the battery LED on the back of the speaker is lit up or flashing. Try waving your hand about an inch above the power button on top of the device, the power button should light up for about 3 seconds. If neither of these are happening, double check to make sure that the outlet the speaker is plugged into is functioning. If you know that it is functioning, and you are still unable to turn the device on by pressing the power button on top of the speaker, please contact us for additional support.

If your speaker is unplugged and won't turn on, it is possible that the battery is not charged. To verify if the battery is charged, first make sure that the battery switch is set to the ON position. As above, try waving your hand 1 inch above the power button on top of the speaker. The power button LED should light up, as well as the battery LED on the back of the speaker. The battery LED on the back of the speaker transitions from green to orange to red, to indicate approximately how much battery life is left on the current charge. If the LED is green, this indicates that the battery has between 60%-100% remaining charge. If the LED is orange, this indicates that the battery has between 30%-60% remaining charge. Finally, if the LED is red, this indicates that the remaining charge is between 0%-30%. When you wave your hand over the top of the speaker, if the LED on the back is showing red, or not coming on at all, it may mean that the battery is completely dead and just needs to be plugged in to charge.

Additionally, if you have the RIVA Audio app on your iOS or Android device, try plugging the speaker into an outlet, turning on the speaker and then launching the app. The app will tell you at the top center of the screen specifically what percentage the battery is currently charged to.

If the charge percentage in the app, or the back of the speaker via the battery LED is showing that the battery is charged, but the speaker will still not turn on when unplugged (provided that the battery switch is set to the ON position), please contact us for additional support.
